Application Timeline(to be announced)

  • For spring semester : in October
  • For fall semester : in May

Numbers to be admitted for each program

  • Master's program : 40 or so / Doctoral program : 40 or so
  • Number of accepted applicants may be different from the numbers to be admittted.

Eligibility

  • Master´s program
  • 1) Candidates must complete their Bachelor's degree by February of the application year, or may be considered by the admissions committee to have acceptable intellectual competence at the level of Bachelor's equivalent or higher degree.
  • 2) Candidates satisfying the above condition must have a passing score of TEPS or TOEFL which is decided separately for each program. Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement.

  • The passing score of TEPS or TOEFL must be recent - within 2 years prior to the application deadline; only one score is accepted.
  • For inquiries about the calculation of TOEFL or TEPS score, contact the Admissions Office (입학관리과, 880-5021).
  • B) For applicants from English-speaking universities, if they do not submit their english proficiency test scores, the lowest passing score is granted.

  • During this period, a candidates cannot be employed as an intern, resident, paid or non-paid fellow, or any other profession.
  • Doctoral Program

  • 3)Candidates may be professionals from any field. However, in the event that both of the candidate's bachelor and master's degrees are from fields other than medicine, a confirmation letter of application is required from the head professor of the candidate's department.

  • During this period, candidates cannot be employed as an intern, resident, paid or non-paid fellow, or any other profession.

  • Interviews and oral tests are graded "in terms of levels" : grades are classified as 3 levels, A, B, and C; C as disqualified.

  • Please make sure to distinguish between department of medical science and department of biomedical sciences at the time of application.
  • Applicants to Master's program
  • 1)One complete Application Form
  • 2)Photos: Attach 2 hat-off, upper body photos (3×4cm) in picture file (e.g., jpg, gif) to online application form
  • 3)One copy of Official Undergraduate Studies Transcript (if currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, the candidate should submit an official transcript indicating grades until the most recent semester and expected graduation dates.)
  • SNU graduates are exempt from this requirement.
  • 4)An original score report of TEPS or TOEFL (Native English speakers are exempt.)
  • A score of TEPS or TOEFL must be achieved in the most recent 2 years prior to the application period; only one score is accepted.

  • A)A letter of recommendation should be sealed at the time of submission by the submission deadline.
  • B)Qualifications of a recommender
  • A professor in the candidate's undergraduate program who has observed the candidate for 2 years or more.
  • A non-family member of the candidate, a person who has known the candidate for 2 years or more.
  • 7)4 copies of the contact information of a reference
  • A)A reference is someone, other than a recommender, who can answer the Admission Office's questions about the candidate if needed.
  • B)Qualifications for a reference: same as a recommender.
  • Applicants to Doctoral Program
  • 1)One complete Application Form
  • 2)Photos: Attach 2 hat-off, upper body photos (3×4cm) in picture file (e.g., jpg, gif) to online application form.
  • 3)One copy of Official Undergraduate Studies Transcript
  • SNU graduates are exempt from this requirement.
  • 4)One copy of Official Master's Degree Transcript (if currently enrolled in an Master's program, the candidate should submit an official transcript indicating grades until the most recent semester and expected graduation dates.)
  • SNU Master´s program graduates are exempt from this requirement.
  • 5)An original score report of TEPS or TOEFL (Native English speakers are exempt.)
  • A score of TEPS or TOEFL must be achieved in the most recent 2 years prior to the application period; only one score is accepted. However, if the candidate's TEPS or TOEFL score was previously accepted by SNU, the 2-year expiration date of such score does not apply.

  • A)A reference is someone, other than a recommender, who can answer the Admission Office's questions about the candidate if needed.
  • B)Qualifications for a reference: same as a recommender.

Important Notes

  • Candidates may not apply for more than 1 graduate program at SNU. If so, the candidate is disqualified.
  • If a candidate is deemed to not to be of sufficient capability to complete the studies, he/she will not be accepted even if the number of applicants is fewer than the numbers to be admitted.
  • Grades for the Entrance Exam is not opened to the public.
  • Submitted documents (including online documents) cannot be edited or cancelled, and the review fee is non-refundable.
  • If any of the submitted materials contain false information and/or unofficial changes, admission is rescinded, and the future admission of such student may also be restricted.
  • During the time of exam, the examinee must follow exam rules and must not leave any possible indication of revealing the examinee's personal profile.
  • Review fee is non-refundable even when the application is disqualified.
  • If an accepted candidate does not register during the assigned period or submit the required documents for dmission, the accepted status may be rescinded.

Miscellaneous

  • Use of Foreign Language Score of the entrance in Thesis Submission Qualification Test
  • Per SNU Degree Granting Policy, candidates with high second language scores during entrance may be permitted to omit this subject during the thesis submission qualification test.
  • Combined Master's and Doctoral program
  • A student enrolled in the Master's program for 2 or more semesters are given the opportunity to continue his/her degree in the Combined Master's & Doctoral Program after a selection process, without having completed the Master's degree.
